The John Golder Story

John Golder 1/1/1980 - 16/4/93

John was a gifted sportsman, cricket, soccer and athletics - he and his twin brother Ken were pupils at Westfield Sports High School.

In cricket John was a wicket-keeper and opening batsman, he was a really tough kid on the sports field, never took a backward step and played with passion & aggression. Once he putting on about 125 runs with Justin Schwitter,  Justin's share being 18.

He was a key player in K.L's premiership winning 1992/93 U. 13/1 team.

Tragically, about a month after that season's close, his mother went to wake him for school and found he had died in bed. It was likened to a 'cot death' type incident, a very fit 13 year old boy just no waking up - to my knowledge no actual medical cause was found.

The K.L. committee agreed to name the junior player of the year trophy in memory of John.
