Policy intro

Caps

KLCC believes that there is benefit in having each team look like a team.  KLCC therefore endorses Parramatta District Cricket Association's policy of not allowing players to wear non-Club type baseball caps.  All players in a game must wear a Club cricket cap or a white floppy hat.  Assorted baseball caps or other coloured caps are not permitted.  All registered players when paying fees will receive a Club Cap prior to the start of the season.  White floppy hats with the KLCC emblem are available from the Canteen for $15.00 each.

Codes of Behaviour

As a general policy, KLCC follows the Codes of Behaviour developed Cricket australia.  Each Coach has been supplied with a copy and the Coach will be happy to supply a copy on request.

In addition, the Parramatta District Cricket Association's Code of Behaviour is located in the fixture book.  Coaches are required to ensure that players, parents and officials in each team are aware of their responsibilities under this Code, and abide by this Code.  Note that PDCA does not take sides in disputes between teams or with Umpires and will deal rigorously with players appearing before them.  The best advice is to accept the Umpire's decision and get on with the game.

Cricket Kit

KLCC supplies each team with a comprehensive kit of equipment so that each player may enjoy the game without incurring any substantial cost.  It is a matter of personal preference for players to purchase their own equipment.   The Committee does recommend that each player purchase a personal protector, also known as a “Hector” or “Box”. These protectors are available from any good sports store for a reasonable cost.  Each Junior team will be issued with a reasonable quantity of match balls suitable for age and number of games.  Senior teams will be asked to purchase match balls from the Club in return for a low Registration Fee and no expectation of match fees.  For any inquiries regarding equipment, please contact the Club's Equipment Officer

Footwear

All players are required to wear correct footwear whilst playing.  Shoes must be predominantly white.  Athletic shoes, other than predominantly white, will not be permitted.

Helmets

It is KLCC and Parramatta Districts Cricket Association policy that all Junior players must wear a helmet when batting.Where it is not compulsory in Seniors it is encouraged to wear helmets.

If you team requires helmets please contact the Equipment Manager

Soccer

Scheduling difficulties between Soccer and Cricket often present problems.  KLCC's policy remains that it is flexible enough to allow its cricket players to finish soccer commitments at the start of the cricket season, and seeks the same flexibility from soccer at cricket finals at the end of the cricket season.

Wet Weather Policy

The Parramatta District Cricket Association covers many local government boundaries and it is not possible to have a universal policy such as that used by Blacktown Cricket Association.  As a general rule of thumb, always assume the game will be on unless you hear otherwise.  The opposing Coach or Club Secretary may call you, as may the KLCC Secretary.  For games within the Blacktown Council Area, call the Wet Weather Hotline on 9839 6575.  The message will be specific regarding Blacktown grounds.  The message may say 'closed to all sports' (this will apply to cricket) or 'closed to all codes of football' (this will not apply to cricket).  Even if Blacktown grounds are closed, other Councils may not follow suit.  Holroyd Council is known to be more lenient for example.  Neighbouring grounds cannot provide a guide either, as drainage differs from ground to ground.  Some Clubs use scholl grounds, and these are not subject to Council scrutiny.  As a guide, use common sense, and remember that most children will want to play. The MCC cricket laws covering this are 3.8,3.9 and 3.10.  As Junior's coaches are usually umpires also, the procedure for deciding what to do is mandated in 'The Laws of Cricket 2000 Code'.  For Senior's games, the Captains must decide what to do.

Working with Kids Check

Current legislation requires KLCC to submit the names of all people working with children so a check can be performed.   The Club is obliged to ask volunteer workers to sign a form declaring whether or not that person is a 'prohibited' person under the relevant legislation.  It is KLCC policy to ask the General and Executive Committee, all Coaches and Managers, and any other person deemed necessary, to complete such a form and pass it to the Club Secretary.  All such information is treated confidentially.
